Olay and the Buckets

First things first:
  • Olay face wash for sensitive skin, on sale at Target for $3.69.
  • Used 2 coupons for $2 off from PG 5-2 (but those expire today, but there are other ones out there for $1 off 5-16S).
  • Total came to $7.38, minus the $4 in coupons, $3.38.
  • Got back a $5 gift card, so, I made $1.62 and got 2 things of free face wash
  • (I'm not figuring tax, that just makes it too damn hard)

Next:
How lovely are these buckets? 19 gallon rope buckets, located near the patio furniture/grilling stuff. They come in red, green, orange and blue. I got a green one too. One is going to be for outdoor toys, and I am thinking one for Connor's room, and one for the basement. They were $6.99, on sale for $5. I tried to get Mango to pose next to the bucket, so you could get an idea of how big they are, but he doesn't know any commands, like sit or stay.

3 packs on clearance for $3.50 on end cap by pharmacy. I used a $1 off 2 from 5-2PG, making the deodorant $1 a stick. And as all of Winona must know by now, Johnny B is a snob and ONLY used Old Spice. There were 3 packs of Axe and Secret as well. Some coupons in 5-2 PG as well

Thanks for sharing this find Tina!

Target Soccer Clearance

If you're looking for any boys' soccer gear, Target has a bunch on clearance right now. My oldest is taking the 2 week soccer session through Park/Rec this summer, so I was *very* excited to stumble upon this deal:

Cleats: regularly priced $19.99, clearance-priced at $4.98
Socks: regularly priced at $7.99, clearance-priced at $1.98

Most of the shoes are in sizes 4-6, but I found this one pair of 13s, and I saw another pair of 12s. Different sizes may show up... who knows? They also have LOTS of soccer balls and soccer bags on clearance. All of this is located on an end cap near sporting goods, facing the wall with all the little kids' riding toys.

Hope this helps someone!!

Target Recycle

Target has special recycle bins now. How great! Left to Right:
  • MP3/Cellphone/Ink Cartridge
  • Glass/Plastic/Aluminium
  • Plastic Bags
  • Trash
I really like this, and hopefully more local stores will follow this. In Eau Claire, the Kwik Trips have special recycle bins for glass/plastic/aluminium. Which is great, I just can't bring myself to put a soda can in the trash. It will bounce around in the bottom of my car, rather than go in the trash.

Remember, Target loves it when you bring in your own bag, and gives you a nickel back for doing so!

Target deals

Target deals

I feel like I went a little crazy at Target, but I think I came out alright - even after the cashier messed up one of my coupons and shorted me $1.24. Oh, well. I hate to complain, especially when I am handing them a *stack* of coupons.

I am slowly learning that it is best to shop in small batches, so it is easier to keep track of the coupons. This is the second time in a row now that a coupon didn't register and I didn't catch it until I got home and then it is a little too late. However, making more frequent trips to Target may not be the best way to save money...

Suncrest Farms (formally Smith Gardens)

Anyone heard of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Vegetable Subscriptions? It is a group of local farmers that raise fruits and veggies, and drop off a vegetable share every week. I am going to do a 1/2 share this summer. I had a friend, Anna Kelner, do it last year. Here is a bit about what she has to say about the program:

"We loved it. I think it made me way more adventurous when it came to food choices and gave me wonderful ideas on how to prepare some delicious tasting veggies. They give you recipe ideas, but the really cool thing, at least for me, was it helped me to step outside the recipe and just try other things instead of just following 1-2-3 on the recipe. If I have X veggie, that might make this dish even better. I loved the chance to cut the vegetables up. I found it be very soothing and the boys would climb up next to me (out of the way of the knife) and just talk as I worked on dinner. I can’t recommend it highly enough."

If you are interested, please check out their web-site for more info:

I spoke to Heather, the owner, and she said spots are nearly filled up already, SO HURRY!!!!

The Great American Apparel Diet

I read about this in Time magazine. It's no buying any clothes for a year. I have a serious shopping problem. It's not that I am spending money I can't afford, just that I am buying things I don't need. I really have over 15 pairs of jeans, tanks in every color, a dozen work out pants, rainbows of sweaters, a swim suit for every day of the week, more hoodies than the Unabomber. Don't get me started on the purse rack. No more, no purses, no jeans, no shoes, no boots, no coats.

So, I think I am going to try it. I will buy no more clothes, for the rest of the year. Exceptions of what I can still buy:
  • Underwear
  • $50 worth of stuff from Express, as I have a gift card for that amount
  • A new pair of sneakers, when mine wear out, I'm a YMCA junky
  • Hats and Sunglasses (dollar tree ones, of course)
  • Socks
  • Headbands
  • I am still accepting gifts of clothing

Kmart Doubles

  • Halls, $1.69, $1 coupon 3-28S2, final free
  • Pants, 4T, clearance for $1.99

Side note, there are STACKS of 2T - 5T pants. Mostly girls, really really cute girl jeans for $1.99

K-Mart doubles

Here's what I scored for my husband. I *guess* he's worth a buck. :-)

Gillette Body Wash: on sale for $4, had a couple $2 coups (doubled to $4 each) = FREE
Oral-B Toothbrushes: somewhere around $2.79 or so, had 2 $2 coupons (doubled to cover the price of the brushes *only* - no overages) = FREE
Right Guard deo/antiperspirant: on sale 2/$5, had a $2 off 2 coup (doubled to $4) - $.50 each.

Grand total: $1.00 + $.76 tax (for easily $20-$25 worth of stuff at regular price)

Kmart Doubles

  • Bic Soleil: $5.69, $2 off from 3-28S2 or 3-7S or from packages, final $1.69
  • Gillette Shower Gel 12 oz, Regular $4.29, sale $4, $2 off 3-7 PG, free
I don't personally like the Soleil that much either, but my baby sister does, and her birthday is coming up at the end of the month. Happy Birthday!

Once again, used Kari's card. THANKS!

Kmart Doubles

NYC Nail Polish: $1.99, used $1 off any product $1.99 or more from Cosmo mag, Free
Old Spice: $2.39, used $1 off 2 from 3-7 PG, $1.39 a piece (John uses ONLY Old Spice, no matter the price, SIGH)
Charmin: regular $8.39, sale $6.50, $1 off from a mailing, $4.50
Dentyne Ice Gum: regular $1.29, sale $1, $1 off 2 from 2-28 S, Free
Bayer Aspirin: confused here, I thought it was $1.99, but rang up for $1, so my coupon $1 3-21S didn't double, but it was still free

Final with 78 cents in tax $6.46

I requested my rewards card, but it hasn't come yet, so Kari generously let me use her card. THANK YOU A MILLION!

Some Winona Kmart Doubles

I don't have my rewards card yet, and really am behind on anything Kmart any how, but Kari was sweet enough to share this with me:

I got
starbucks frapuccino for 40 cents (all figures approximate) using online Q
pert plus 3 in 1 shampoo bodywash for 49 cents
spot shot carpet cleaner for 40 cents ($2 Q from All You mag -- love this deal, came upon it by accident)
gillette shaving cream for 1 dollar or so
venus embrace disp. razor 3pk for $1.99 (I love these and don't mind paying a few bucks for them; I'm not a fan of the Bic Soleil so I don't want to pay much for those)
nescafe instant coffee, free
right guard men's deodorant for 50 cents
Also -- if you have ever printed a $3 Q for greenworks laundry detergent, kmart has small-medium bottles of this for $4.99 this week. Q doesn't double but you get a bottle of detergent for 2 bucks.

In the mail today....

Look what came today:
  • Two large packs of wipes, the white things on the left
  • Various high value coupons
  • 3 Pamper diapers
  • Puffs sample
  • Prilosec samples
  • Free custom picture book
  • Peanut butter spoon, not from the mail
A lot of the stuff came from Vocal Point, sign up here. The wipes came from completing a wipe survey, I am going to have to complete another after trying them. I think it's from E-Rewards. A bunch came from the P&G as well. Peanut butter spoon, that is Connor's. Photo book from Hot Prints, you can make one every month. And that is just plain fun.

Family Dollar

This is my first Family Dollar trip! Let's break it down.
  • Clariol Balsam Color: Regular $3, sale $2.50, used $5 off when you buy 2 from 3-7 PG, final free
  • Reese Dark: Regular 65 cents, sale two for $1, used 2-55 cents off from 3-14 S, they price adjusted down the coupon to 50 cents, there were two when I left the store, but one disappeared on the trip back, final free
  • Snuggle: Regular or maybe sale price of $3 for 70 count sheets, used $3 off from 3-28 RP, final free

Everything was free, but I paid like 88 cents in tax.

The check out process was really strange. There were two cashiers working, one was running the register, the other was just kind of hanging out up front. (there were 3 customers in the whole store, including me.) My checker was very nice, but when I handed her the coupons after she rang everything up, she looked a bit "deer-in-the-headlights". She had to enter each coupon in by scrolling through her screen, locating the item, the manually entering in the amount. So with the buy 2 get $5 off, she had to enter $2.50 by each of the hair dyes. It took a bit of time, but she was really nice about it. The other cashier that was doing nothing got a little snarky at my 55 cents off when the item was only 50 cents. But I got all my free stuff, and I was happy. I have no idea what would happen if they would have to do the stacking a manufacturer coupon with their store coupons.....

Anyone else ever try couponing at Family Dollar? The deals were great, I'd do it again. I was by myself, having Connor with could have made that a nuclear situation.

My Boots

It's not really a "Winona" deal, but still, I'll share. They are my new boots, and I love them. The black/brown ones are Rampage Women's Teenas $14.89, and the yellow are Dr. Martens Nellie Boot for $30.32. On Ebay they go for about $20 and $50, so they were a deal, plus they qualified for free shipping.

A few weeks ago, I was in Rogan shoes, and spoke to the saleswoman, and asked if Dr Martens (AKA, "Docs") were still cool. She said yes, and they are coming out with new and exciting colors. This must be what she was talking about! Back in high school/college, when I had $120 to spend on a pair of shoes, I used to wear Docs. I still have maybe 2 pairs in the basement, the soles NEVER wear out. So look out Winona, Heather has new boots!

Ziploc Containers

Hy-vee has a CRAZY deal!!!

Regular price, $3.99, on SUPER sale for 99 cents. Use the $1.50 off 2 from the 3-21S or the 2-21S1. Making them 75 cents a piece. They all have Box-Tops, so cut those babies off and give them to your school. This display is over by the pharmacy, and I'm assuming it's a get-em-while-ya-can deal. So HURRY!

Thanks Kim for the heads up on this one. I bought 12.
